Flint Lapeer Oldtimers hockey Update

Prayers For Our Friend

Gentlemen and Ladies of our great hockey community. Yesterday we received sad news that Scott Taggert was diagnosed with late stage cancer. I’ve heard that it may be Pancreatic. Scott is at UM Ann Arbor getting treatment. Marc Morrison has been in communication with his wife. Marc is looking into setting up some fundraising events to help Scott with the extreme expenses he is certain to incur.

Please keep Scott and his family in your prayers.

Follow-up with your doctor if you have something going on. Especially that awful colonoscopy. It could save your life.

As a personal note, I can share my experience in 2021 with colon cancer. The surgery was way easier than the nose surgery I had years before to fix my deviated septum and open the airway. That one was brutal. The colon surgery had me in the hospital for about two days. The chemo after was for six months and that was rough. Like Scott, I’m self employed and my savings was wiped out and credit cards maxed as I spent over $27,000 out of pocket to fight the good fight. I’m happy I was able to do that and continue to monitor for the return of the dreaded cancer.

This battle will be huge for Scott and his family. We need to rally around and help in any way we can. Scott is one of those guys who is always there to help out the hockey community. He and Joey are ever present at the rink for our games. I can’t imagine the rink without their presence.

Keep your head up,
Dave Crabill
