Week 3 Roundup: Goals, a Shutout and a Hard-Fought Tie

Three games into the Fall 2026 Monday 50+ season, the league is starting to take shape.

Monday night at Crystal Fieldhouse gave us a little bit of everything across five games—a shutout, a tie, some close hockey, plenty of goals and a few players putting together big nights.

Phantom Fireworks 5, Milnes 2

Phantom Fireworks put together a strong night with a 5–2 win over Milnes.

Steve Suffel led the way with two goals, while Mark Abee, Bill Read and Mark Baldridge also found the net for Phantom.

Milnes answered with goals from Jason Davis and Bill Webb, but Phantom generated enough offense to pull away and add another win to the early-season standings.

Antcliff 3, Lukes Lawn 1

Antcliff picked up a 3–1 victory over Lukes Lawn in a competitive game.

Art Autio, Scott Clementz and Bryan Burke scored for Antcliff, while Matt Worthing provided the Lukes Lawn goal.

There was a little penalty-box activity as well. Greg Keller served two minutes for hooking for Lukes Lawn, while Clementz picked up a tripping penalty for Antcliff.

Just enough time in the box to remind everyone that this is still hockey.

Gears Beer 7, Tucker 4

Gears Beer and Tucker played the highest-scoring game of the night, with Gears coming away with a 7–4 win after Tucker made a strong push to get back into it.

Dan Clemons led the Gears offense with a hat trick and an assist. Lenny Koskodan, Matthew Sokoloski, William Gibbons and Joe Schmitt each added a goal. Tony Ceresia, Russ Fowler, JP Dumoulin and Dave Crabill also picked up assists.

Gears built a solid lead, but Tucker came back hard and made things interesting before Gears answered with some late goals to put the game away.

Dan’s big night also came with the game’s funniest two minutes.

As Dan headed toward the bench for a change, Dave Crabill yelled “Center!” Lenny heard the call and immediately jumped over the boards to replace him. Dan then saw the puck nearby and did what hockey players do—he played it.

What he didn’t see was Lenny already on the ice.

Too many men. Two minutes.

Officially, the penalty belongs to Dan. Unofficially, the guy on the bench yelling “Center!” probably deserves an assist on that one too.

So Clemons finished the night with three goals, an assist and two penalty minutes—a pretty complete Oldtimers stat line. 😄

Fastenal 2, Hamlin Pub 2

Fastenal and Hamlin Pub couldn’t separate themselves, finishing in a 2–2 tie.

Brian Ladd and Ron Evans scored for Fastenal, while Hamlin answered with a pair of goals of its own.

Four goals, no penalties and no winner. That’s about as even as an Oldtimers game gets.

Flint 6, Goyette 0

The most decisive result of the night belonged to Flint, which rolled to a 6–0 win over Goyette.

Brady Horn recorded a hat trick, while Don Campbell, Dave Banks and Phil Heckman each added a goal. Brian Walker also contributed with an assist as Flint spread the offense around.

At the other end, Tom Gwillim earned the shutout, completing an impressive night for Flint.

Three goals for Horn, six for Flint and a zero on the other side of the scoreboard—that’s a pretty good Monday night.

Three Games In, Things Are Getting Interesting

With three games now played, we’re starting to have enough hockey behind us for the standings and individual scoring races to get interesting.

Teams are settling in, guys are getting familiar with their new teammates, and we’re starting to see which teams might make some noise this Fall.

Keep an eye on the standings, schedule and player statistics on the Oldtimers Hockey League page as the season develops.

And we’ll see everybody back at the rink next Monday.
